Marumo Gallants Football Club have made significant moves to strengthen their squad for the upcoming 2026/27 PSL (Premiership Soccer League) season. The club has announced the signing of 13 new players, marking a fresh start after finishing 14th on the Betway Premiership table last year.
Following the conclusion of the previous season, Gallants underwent some management changes. Paul Matthews was appointed as sporting director, and he will be supported by Phuti Mohafe, Musa Bilankulu, and Mathome Mathiane in their technical roles. The club has also brought in a host of new talent to complement their existing roster.
Among the newly signed players are Emile Lako, Thokozani Lukhele, Prince Manku, Mlungisi Sikakane, Patrick Motsoeneng, Kgomotso Marebane, Thato Mohlomme, Samkele Sihlali, Thabang Sesinyi, Thabiso Mkwanazi, Onalenna Lepelesana, Lebogang Button, and Thulani Zandamela. These additions are expected to bring fresh energy and skills to the team.
President Abram Sello expressed optimism about the new signings at an event in Sandton, Johannesburg. He mentioned that the club might still add a few more players before the transfer window closes, but for now, these 13 signings represent a significant step forward. The club has also retained several key players through contract renewals, including Edgar Manaka, Kagiso Mlambo, Tshepo Rikhotso, Khumbulani Ncube, Bheki Mabuza, Katlego Otladisa, Monde Mphambaniso, Kamohelo Sithole, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, and Tebogo Motloung.
However, Gallants face a setback as their opening Betway Premiership match against Mamelodi Sundowns has been postponed. The game was initially scheduled for this Saturday but will now be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.
