Marumo Gallants FC are in advanced talks with former AmaZulu head coach and UEFA Pro Licence holder Jozef Vukusic for the role of head coach. The club pulled off a dramatic 'escape' to preserve their Betway Premiership status, navigating a roller-coaster 2025/26 campaign and salvaging a 14th-place finish to narrowly avoid the relegation playoffs. Off the pitch, their top-flight status has also been rocked by a legal war with Swallows, who are reported to have approached the High Court to cancel the R40 million sale of their franchise status. Gallants reportedly filed answering papers, arguing that the High Court lacks jurisdiction, that the matter belongs in football arbitration, and that their contractual obligations were met through league grant deductions. The off-field turmoil, though, does not seem to have deterred Bahlabane ba Ntwa, who, according to trustworthy sources, has held multiple talks with Vukusic for the vacant head coach role. Vukusic's experience in the PSL includes stints at AmaZulu and Cape Town City, and he secured an impressive fifth-place finish for Polokwane City in the 2018/19 season. Trevor Mathiane and Julien Outrebon had been serving as interim co-coaches when the 2025/26 season ended in May. The 61-year-old Vukusic is already in South Africa and has held multiple meetings with the club. Marumo Gallants FC's new head coach will be expected to build on the team's narrow escape from relegation and lead them to a stronger finish in the upcoming season.
